EUROPE: 1st European Solar Days: European Citizens to Celebrate Solar Energy

Brussels, 28/01/2008: Today, the European Solar Days were officially launched at a press conference during the European Union Sustainable Energy week. The European Solar Days will be celebrated on May 16-17 with over 4000 events in 10 European countries.

The 7th „Tag der Sonne“ will take place in Austria on 16. and 17. May 2008. And for the first time the campaign will be held in nine countries across Europe as the European Solar Days. In Austria, the campaign is supported by the klima:aktiv programme, together with the climate alliance, environmental consultancies and many local partners. The campaign is managed by the organisation Austria Solar.
The klima:aktiv programme solar heat supports participating municipalities by providing information material, flyers, posters, banners, T-Shirts, balloons, Solar-DVDs and much more. This material is provided to the municipalities free of charge. All activities of the "Tag der Sonne" are also displayed in an online event calendar and are promoted to the press. Registration already started in January 2008.

SPAIN: European Solar Days - 16-17 May 2008

Spain will take part in the Intelligent Energy Europe project for raising of awareness in the use of renewal energy sources as the solar. This initiative has already been developed from six years in Austria, four in Switzerland and two in Germany.
