2nd European Solar Days: Europe celebrates the energy from the sun 15-22 May 2009

Brussels, 14th May 2009: The second European Solar Days are celebrated from 15 to 22 May with more than 500.000 citizens participating in 7.000 events in 15 European countries. Solar PV and Solar Thermal are replacing fossil fuels and nuclear energy in Europe.

Brussels, 19 March 2009. In 2009, the “European Solar Days” will take place for the second time, from 15-22 May. Since 2002, a Solar Day has been celebrated in Austria, and later in Switzerland and Germany in order to increase public awareness of the use of solar energy. In 2008 this initiative was first staged as a Europe-wide campaign.
The first European Solar Days will be celebrated with over 4000 events throughout Europe

The kick off of the first European Solar Days will be celebrated on Friday 16 May with special events in Brussels and throughout Europe.
